Kanye, Lupe, & Pharrel Rapping Over The Eraser

There are a few things that I’d never thought I’d hear in my life; an emo diss album, a bad Bjork song, Thom Yorke somehow involved in a hip-hop track, and Avey Tare experimenting a little too much, to name a few. Well, 2007 has brought all those things, for better or worse. On his just-released mixtape, Can’t Tell Me Nothing, not only does Kanye West sample Daft Punk, he raps over Thom Yorke’s ‘The Eraser’. The result is an eerie-as-hell, half-drone half-rap, but surprisingly good track. Who’d have figured that one?

Actually one of my initial reactions to The Eraser was that in an alternate universe, Thom Yorke is a top-tier hip-hop producer. I we were still in the days of mashing every single album with Jay-Z, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear Erasing The Blueprint.
Top notch blog.
