Yeah Yeah Yeahs To Release New EP

I loved Yeah Yeah Yeah’s sophomore effort, Show Your Bones, but like most fans, I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed over the lack of any really hard rock tracks. It was a fine album, but too mellow for a band known for being over-the-top rockers. Now, a year after SYB’s release, it looks like we’re finally going to get the old YYY’s back, with their new EP, Is Is, due out on July 24th, on Dress Up/Fiction. The tracklist is as follows:
01. Rockers To Swallow
02. Down Boy
03. Kiss Kiss
04. Isis
05. 10×10
These are all older tracks, written around the time of Fever To Tell, so they’re sure to please fans of YYY’s debut. Also, most of these tracks have been available previously, on live DVD’s or rare splits, so I’ve head most of them; let me assure you, they rock. We got our crazy art rockers back!
Yeah Yeah Yeahs | Sealings

I suppose you’ve all heard about the soundtrack for Spiderman 3, by now, and how ‘indie’ it is.Personally, I don’t have any problems with it. Sure, it’s indie-lite to say the least, but at least some real indie is finally permeating the mainstream. When I first saw that Yeah Yeah Yeahs were prepping a new song for it, I was pretty stoked; Show Your Bones was one of my favorite albums from last year. I was a little let down when I saw that the new track was sealings; as a hardcore YYY’s fan, I’d heard that track months ago. But it’s all good. We finally get a high quality version of the track, and YYY’s get some mainstream exposure. Things turn out well for everyone. The Spiderman 3 OST will be released May 1st, via Record Collection.
Yeah Yeah Yeah’s: B-Sides And Live Recordings

I hate Valentines Day. Every year, I watch a select few people receive bouquets of roses, boxes of chocolate, etc, while the rest of the population (myself included) sits quietly and pretends to be happy. Secretly, we want to shove those roses and chocolates and stuffed talking animals up the collective ass of Valentines Day.To most of us, it’s nothing but another Hallmark-holiday, with an extra side of misery, loneliness, and self-loathing.
Clearly, today is not my day. Like the rest of the country, Vermont is in the midst of a good old-fashioned New England blizzard. The city’s like a ghost town under three feet of snow. There’s got to be some poetic irony to this, no? Either way, I’ve spent most of my day forgetting about the world outside and listening to the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s. I even managed to dig out some rare B-sides and live recordings from my hard drive. Karen O’s voice is really the perfect anti-Valentine’s Day voice. So, for everyone out there just waiting for this horrible to day to end, here are a few tracks to pass the time. May Karen O’s voice tear your Valentines Day in two.
And a .rar file (63.4 MB), with a few more tracks.

About Those Shiny Objects
What, the giant album covers didn’t distract you enough from the fact that I only did a top five list? Well, how about these rare Yeah Yeah Yeah’s songs, including an oh so sweet Bjork cover? Yeah, I thought so.
Still not enough? Okay, fine, I promise I’ll post a bit tomorrow on More Fish, Ghostface Killah’s new album.
