Ready for you eighties nostalgia fix? Well, you’re about to get it from a pretty unexpected source; the Rosebuds. Since their last album, Birds Make Good Neighbors, the Rosebuds have done a complete overhaul of their sound. Gone is the indie-folk band of the past, replaced by . . . well, an eighties dance band. It’s an odd and unexpected transformation, but at least it’s done relatively well. Almost every song on their new album, Night Of The Furies, evinces the new “dark, sexy, danceable, and nuanced” Rosebuds; just as they promised. Both Ivan Howard’s and Kelly Crisp’s voices are surprisingly well suited to dance, though I must admit that Crisp’s is considerably more “sexy”. Enjoy.
