If Animal Collective were forced to experiment less, take tranquilizers, and allow a cowboy to join their band, they might sound a bit like Seabear. Animal Collective comparisons don’t come cheap around here, and this one is well deserved. Like so many other great artists these days, Seabear hails from Iceland. If artists like Bjork and Sigur Ros are a little too dense for you, don’t worry; Seabear’s sound is considerably warmer than either of those two bands. Seabear specializes in a certain mellow style of experimental-pop, with clear vocals and soft beats. Their new album, The Ghost That Carried Us Away, is highly recommended.
