Justice | Stress

May 13, 2007 at 7:28 am (Justice, mp3s)

If you’ve been reading SC for a while, you’ll know I’m a sucker for violins. You’ll also know that I love Justice. So, what happens when you put the two together? Apparently you get one of the best dance tracks of the year. ‘Stress’, from the forthcoming † LP, use the same sample of shrieking violins throughout, along with what sounds like a power drill, to create a shockingly tense and dramatic track. It evinces a completely different side of Justice than the fun-loving D.A.N.C.E.-ers, showing us a darker, more interesting side of the duo. It didn’t take very long, but Justice have already topped D.A.N.C.E.

I’ve been reading reviews and such from publications and others on the internet, and I think this track is far underrated on the album. People are always bringing up other tracks when talking about the best track on the album, but this one is up there for sure in my book.

DEVO made a music video for Secret Agent Man that featured these sounds. I don’t know if that is the original source but that is where I’ve heard it before. Here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTm2d100_-s

I was so wrong and just realized it. Here is the correct video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRguZr0xCOc DEVO use to make promotional music videos before music television. So yeah it isn’t Secret Agent Man it is Joko Homo. Sorry about that. Enjoy!

i think the violins sample is probably taken from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, the song being Night On Disco Mountain, a recreation of Night On Bald Mountain by russian composer Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky (19th century).
