Grizzly Bear-esque vocals, Sufjan Stevens-style instrumentation, and ever-so-light psych-folk undertones; that’s everything I like about Magic Arm’s ‘Outdoor Games’, the opener to their EP of the same title. The things I don’t like? There aren’t any. This is one of those perfect little tracks that you don’t see coming, but end up swaying to all day long. Any good psych-folk song has a slightly hypnotic feel to it, and Outdoor Games excels in that area; the breathy slow, heavy harmonies weave through the quietly swelling banjo(?), organ, and harmonica in a beautifully lullaby-like fashion. Enjoy this gorgeous little gem of a song; I know I did.
