Remember those trippy tee-shirts from the D.A.N.C.E. video? Well now you can have a set of your very own hipster tee’s, for the modest price of 50 euros (~$66). Okay, so that’s really not too modest, but how awesome are these shirts? You can pick them up in sets of two over at We Sold Out. And no, this post is not an excuse for me to post more of the seemingly endless stream of Justice remixes.
The best/most popular tracks posted on SC this past week. And yes, I’m choosing pictures at random now.
If you’ve been reading SC for a while, you’ll know I’m a sucker for violins. You’ll also know that I love Justice. So, what happens when you put the two together? Apparently you get one of the best dance tracks of the year. ‘Stress’, from the forthcoming † LP, use the same sample of shrieking violins throughout, along with what sounds like a power drill, to create a shockingly tense and dramatic track. It evinces a completely different side of Justice than the fun-loving D.A.N.C.E.-ers, showing us a darker, more interesting side of the duo. It didn’t take very long, but Justice have already topped D.A.N.C.E.
Yes, I’m getting excited about †, the upcoming long player from Justice. I spent the weekend listening to the D.A.N.C.E. EP, and that newly discovered † track featuring Uffie. † is looking pretty good, if this track is any indication. Yesterday, I ran across Tittsworth remix of D.A.N.C.E., and was suitably impressed, enough to check out Tittsworth’s site. The Discobelle mix alone is excuse enough to head over there.
A few weeks back I posted Justice’s remix of Franz Ferdinand’s ‘The Fallen’ from a few years back, citing it as one of my favorite remixes. Despite that, I just barely got around to listening to Justice’s latest release, the D.A.N.C.E. EP. D.A.N.C.E. is one of those tracks that doesn’t leave much of an impression at first; but a few hours later, as you’re walking down the street, you’ll find yourself humming the tune and walking to the beat. It’s just a dance beat with children on vocals, but it becomes much more than the sum of it’s parts after a few listens.
The D.A.N.C.E. EP was released this past Monday on 12″, and includes n extended version of D.A.N.C.E., plus B.E.A.T. and Phantom. B.E.A.T and D.A.N.C.E. are a bit similar, but they’re both so good that you probably won’t notice. Justice will release their first full length † (alt+0134) on June 4th in France, and June 10th everywhere else. If this EP is any indication, you’ll definitely want to pick up † when you get the chance.
